Don't Close Your Eyes

by Josh McDonough

/
1.
I've watched them all dig their homes. They lay and they wait for the sun to go down. They won't be out for long because they're still afraid to move on. I'm ashamed to say that I used to be that way. I try not to live in the past, but I'm a rod in the hands of a man that cannot cast. All of my friends play along, its all the same shit, we bite our tongues trying to stay strong.
2.
I always think too much about what I've got. I'm ruining my brain trying to relate. I stay sick and tired until the summer, thats where I swear to myself that I'll become better. So I'll just watch Ken Park and Palindromes until my days get quite and your hearts the cold coal. But honestly I'll probably just drink a little more.

What I Want 02:09
The light in your eyes glows and it tells me that we are meant to be. So we'll go where we want to, and I'll show you the light inside of me. And the hope that you give me and the way that you kiss me...you see what I see. Our love will grow stronger and I know only you can set me free.

I Miss That 02:16
I miss that night inside your car, behind my fence, just passed my yard. You had just quit smoking. Your tired head rested on me, I took slow breaths so you could sleep. You looked flawless. You never drank the can of tea I stole for to make you think I was cooler. The scars from when you were thirteen lined up with mine to form a scene of embarrassments and regrets. It's been three years since that great night. It's been three years since our final fight, and I miss that. It stains my mind when I don't sleep. If you had given me just one for week, I would have made our end so different.
